Where does the alert signal travel immediately after leaving the user's personal device?
To a base unit or hub located within the home.
The process of summoning help begins with the user activating their personal device, such as a pendant or wristband, which contains the clearly marked button. The signal generated by this activation does not travel directly to the external monitoring center. Instead, it first travels wirelessly to the base unit or alarm hub situated inside the user’s home. This base unit is the critical intermediary device that handles the connection to the outside world, usually via the public telephone network or a cellular connection. Only after the base unit receives this alert signal does it automatically initiate the call out to the monitoring service, where the operator takes over the assessment and response coordination.
